Mentor Graphics Announces IBM Design Rule Files for Calibre
WILSONVILLE, Ore., Dec. 18 /PRNewswire/ --
Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT), today announced that IBM has
joined the growing list of silicon foundry service providers whose process
technologies are supported by the Mentor Graphics® Calibre® physical
verification tool suite.
Customers can obtain Calibre rule files for IBM's
CMOS 6SF and 7SF logic process technologies directly from IBM.
These rule
files were developed by Mentor Graphics and qualified by IBM and Mentor
Graphics.
Rule files for additional IBM process technologies are expected to
be available in the future. ``The new Calibre rule files can help IBM better serve foundry customers by
speeding verification of chips designed for manufacture using its 6SF and 7SF
process technologies,'' said Richard Whiteside, foundry operations engineering
manager for IBM Microelectronics.
``We are impressed with Mentor's commitment
to supporting our industry-leading process technologies.'' ``In our experience, when a foundry supports Calibre, access to Calibre
rule files accelerates their customers' process of transitioning designs to
manufacture,'' said Anthony Nicoli, marketing manager for Calibre.
``We expect
this benefit to extend to customers of IBM using Calibre. Calibre Delivers A Complete Solution The collaboration between IBM and Mentor Graphics is intended to deliver
unmatched physical verification Turn-Around Time (TAT) to mutual customers,
enabling them to complete multiple verification runs per day for
System-on-Chip (SoC) designs that incorporate hundreds of millions of
transistors.
Calibre's physical verification tool suite, Calibre DRC(TM) and
Calibre LVS(TM), ensures that IC physical designs conform to foundry
manufacturing rules and match the intended functionality of the chip.
Calibre
features design style independent execution to provide optimal execution
performance on designs ranging from RAMs to SoCs using a single, process
qualified rule file.
Calibre also provides advanced debugging capabilities,
including intuitive error reporting, a graphical results viewing environment
and hierarchical error isolation.
The combined force of design style
independence and advanced debugging extend Calibre's world-class run time
performance to further reduce verification time by simplifying tool set-up and
error correction. About Mentor Graphics Corporation Mentor Graphics Corporation is a world leader in electronic hardware and
